Skin Rejuvenation at Cosmo Laser
At Cosmo Laser, we offer Skin Rejuvenation, which is an effective laser treatment for addressing uneven skin tone.
Read everything you need to know about the treatment here:
#1 In Brief
At Cosmo Laser, we use Ellipse Nordlys IPL for the treatment of uneven skin tone.
With Ellipse Nordlys IPL, we can address skin issues such as dark spots, broken blood vessels, and reddish scar tissue. During the treatment, the skin receives intense pulsed light (IPL), which specifically heats the small blood vessels and uneven skin tone. As a result, after completing the treatment course, the skin will appear more uniform and with renewed radiance.
#2 Before Treatment
Before the treatment course can begin, the patient must undergo an assessment by a dermatologist to detect any undesirable skin changes before starting any treatment. To achieve the best results, it is essential that the skin is as pale as possible. Therefore, self-tanners should not be used for 2 weeks before treatment, and the treatment area should not be exposed to UV rays (sunlight and tanning beds) for 4 weeks before treatment.
The treatment area should be free from infections, wounds, or irritation, and it is recommended to ensure that the skin is well-maintained before starting treatment. Well-maintained skin responds better to the treatment and recovers more quickly. Failure to comply with these precautions may result in treatment cancellation or postponement. In cases where there is an increased risk of side effects, we reserve the right to charge a fee of DKK 500 if you are sent home, and the appointment is canceled later than 24 hours before the treatment. This also applies to no-shows or cancellations made later than 24 hours before the treatment.
According to cosmetic treatment regulations, the treated area must be photographed before the treatment can begin.
#3 During Treatment
The skin is cleansed, and a special gel is applied to protect the skin and optimize the transfer of light energy to the skin in the treatment areas requiring it. During the treatment, you will feel warmth in the skin, and there will be sharp flashes of light. Your eyes will be protected by special eye pads and will not be affected by the light. In certain areas, it may be slightly uncomfortable, but most describe the treatment as a warm "tingling" sensation in the skin.
#4 After Treatment
After the treatment, the skin will feel warm, and there may be mild discomfort in the treated area, which can last for a few hours. Additionally, the skin will appear red, and there may be slight swelling in the following days. Cooling of the skin is necessary, so you will receive ice packs to cool the treatment area, and extras can be used and reused at home by placing them in the freezer once they have thawed. Skin tone may often appear darker and more uneven immediately after treatment. Coffee ground-like spots may appear but will fade within 1-2 weeks. This is an intended reaction. Afterward, the skin appears lighter and more uniform for most people.
The treatment also stimulates the skin's natural collagen production, resulting in improved skin vitality over the following months. Creams and makeup can be applied immediately after treatment, and daily activities can be resumed as usual. Avoid using exfoliating creams or chemical peels for 4-5 days after treatment. It is crucial that the treated skin area is not exposed to the sun for 4 weeks after treatment, and it is recommended to use sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 50.
#5 Number of Treatments and Expectations
The number of treatments is assessed individually. Typically, 3-5 treatments are recommended for a good result. The duration of the result varies depending on triggering factors such as sun exposure and skin conditions. We recommend that treatments are spaced approximately 4 weeks apart for optimal results. We find that about 10-20% of treated uneven skin tones only improve minimally or remain unchanged. In these cases, after the first treatment, you can attempt to increase the energy level. Our cosmetic nurses always make treatment decisions based on an individual assessment of the treated areas and the risk of skin damage, so treatment plans are carried out individually.
#6 Side Effects
In rare cases, burns may occur, resulting in small fluid-filled blisters, sores, light or dark skin discoloration, and scar formation. These burns can occur for various reasons, but typically if the skin has been exposed to the sun. In most cases, burns will be mild and heal without scarring. In extremely rare cases, one may experience a worsening of the dark skin tone after treatment. If this happens, we will discontinue the treatment course. If burns or unexpected skin reactions occur, it is advisable to contact the clinic immediately and speak with a doctor or nurse.
#7 Contraindications
The following are reasons why you cannot be approved for the treatment:
- History of skin or melanoma cancer
