Read everything you need to know about the treatment here:
#1 In Brief
At Cosmo Laser, we use IS Clinical’s Prodigy Peel System to perform chemical peels on the face, neck, and chest.
Chemical peeling represents a non-invasive method for skin-improving treatments. Different chemical acid compounds are used to exfoliate the skin's surface, resulting in the removal of dead skin cells. Additionally, chemical peeling stimulates skin renewal, which helps reduce uneven skin tone and texture, scars, fine lines, and age-related changes.
#2 Before Treatment
The treatment area must be intact, without infections, wounds, or irritation. It is also recommended to ensure the skin is well-maintained before starting the treatment. Well-cared-for skin responds better to the treatment and recovers faster.
According to cosmetic treatment regulations, the treated area must be photographed before the treatment can begin.
#3 During Treatment
The skin is cleansed, and the Prodigy Peel System is applied. During the treatment, you will feel warmth and a stinging sensation on the skin.
The Prodigy Peel System is self-neutralizing, meaning the reaction subsides within 5–10 minutes.
The Prodigy Peel System can be applied up to three times in one session, depending on the skin's reaction. Your practitioner will assess the number of applications at each session.
Afterward, Prodigy Boost is applied to enhance the peeling's effect and support the skin's healing process.
#4 After Treatment
The skin will feel irritated after the treatment and may appear red, warm, and stinging. The burning sensation usually subsides within 4–8 hours.
After the treatment, the nurse will apply IS Clinical Sheald, a cream designed to heal irritated and damaged skin. It is recommended to continue applying to Sheald for the next 7 days.
Peeling may begin 4–7 days after the treatment.
Because the treatment promotes skin renewal, it is essential to protect the treated area from the sun with a minimum SPF 50. The skin will be thin and new, making it unable to protect itself from sun exposure.
#5 Number of Treatments and Expectations
It is recommended to undergo 3–6 treatments at 6-week intervals if you aim for skin renewal, general skin improvement, or tissue tightening. For reducing deeper lines, wrinkles, or scars, 6 treatments are typically necessary.
Results develop gradually throughout the treatment course. However, since the cells continue to work for up to 3 months after the treatment, the final results will only be visible after this period. Follow-up treatments 2–4 times annually can effectively maintain results after completing the treatment course.
#6 Side Effects and Risks
With the Prodigy Peel System, there is a small risk of bacterial or viral infections. Infection may present as redness, tenderness, swelling, or fever.
If an infection occurs, it may feel like a sudden worsening or regression in the healing process. The risk of infection is highest within the first few days after treatment and can be easily treated with antibiotics.
For those who experience recurrent herpes outbreaks on the face, preventive treatment starting the day before is recommended.
Temporary acne or blemishes may occur in areas prone to breakouts.
#7 Contraindications
The following conditions prevent approval for the treatment:
- Known allergy to ingredients in the treatment products
- Known allergy to acetylsalicylic acid or idebenone
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding
- Certain types of prescription medications for acne
- Tendency to develop keloid scars
- Certain autoimmune conditions
#8 Consent
According to cosmetic treatment regulations, you can consent to the treatment immediately after receiving oral information. You are always welcome to bring a companion to the consultation and treatment.
We are happy to assist with any further questions.
