Frax-1550 Laser Treatment at Cosmo Laser
At Cosmo Laser, we offer Frax-1550 treatment, which is an effective laser procedure that reduces wrinkles and scars, providing the skin with renewed radiance and a smoother texture. Skin damage caused by excessive sun exposure, as well as brown spots, can also be reduced in some cases with this treatment. Read everything you need to know about the procedure here:
#1 In Brief
At Cosmo, we use Frax-1550 for the treatment of wrinkles, uneven skin texture, and scars resulting from conditions like acne. Frax-1550 creates controlled damage in a predetermined percentage of the skin, stimulating it to generate new skin cells and connective tissue. During the healing process, the skin also tightens, resulting in a firming effect. Frax-1550 is an effective treatment that reduces wrinkles and scars while giving the skin renewed radiance and a smoother texture.
#2 Before Treatment
Before beginning the treatment course, patients must undergo an evaluation by a dermatologist to identify any undesirable skin changes before any potential treatment. To achieve the best results, it's essential for the skin to be as pale as possible. Therefore, self-tanning products should not be used for 2 weeks before the treatment, and the treatment area should not be exposed to UV rays (sunlight and tanning beds) for 4 weeks before the treatment. For this reason, it can be challenging to treat individuals with darker skin tones.
During your consultation, the nurse will determine if we can offer you the treatment. For most individuals, this treatment can be quite uncomfortable. Time is allocated for the nurse to apply a local anesthetic cream before the treatment, which can take effect within 15 minutes. However, if you have the opportunity, you are welcome to arrive 30-45 minutes before your treatment to maximize the effect. Simply approach the reception and request assistance in applying the numbing cream.
The treatment area should be intact, without infections, wounds, or irritation, and it is recommended that the skin be well-maintained before starting the treatment. Failure to adhere to the above precautions may result in treatment cancellation or postponement. In cases where there is an increased risk of side effects, we reserve the right to cancel the treatment.
According to cosmetic treatment regulations, the treated area must be photographed before the treatment can begin.
#3 During Treatment
Before starting the treatment, the skin is cleansed and disinfected to minimize the risk of infections. Frax-1550 uses laser light to create small heat-damaged vertical channels in the skin. Both the density and depth of the treatment can be tailored to each customer's needs. Typically, the treatment is applied uniformly across the entire treatment area. However, in some areas, it may be necessary to treat more closely, such as around deep wrinkles and deeper scars.
#4 After Treatment
The skin will be irritated after the treatment, and it will appear red, warm, stinging, and slightly swollen. Cooling of the skin is necessary, so after the treatment, you will be provided with ice packs to cool the treatment area, along with an extra pack that you can use and reuse at home by refreezing it when it thaws. The burning sensation in the skin typically subsides within 4-8 hours, after which the skin may feel tender, warm, and sensitive.
After the treatment, the nurse will apply IS Clinical Sheald to your skin, which is a cream for healing irritated and damaged skin. It is crucial that the treated skin area is not exposed to the sun for 4 weeks after the treatment, and it is recommended to use sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 50. The skin is thin and new and cannot protect itself from the sun's rays. The healing phase lasts 4-8 weeks, during which time the outermost layer of the skin regains its natural strength.
#5 Healing Phase
With Frax-1550 treatment, there is an increased risk of skin infection. Due to this risk, you must be extremely cautious about touching your skin for 24 hours after the treatment. Ensure that your hands are freshly washed before touching the treated area. It is discouraged to cleanse your skin or apply anything other than the recommended products during the first 24 hours after treatment or until there are open sores on the skin.
In the days following the treatment, it is important to moisturize the skin frequently with a nourishing cream. The skin should be kept moist and supple. After 2-3 days, the redness and swelling of the face will subside, and the skin may feel rough with scab formation and mild peeling. The skin can become very dry and coarse, and recommended moisturization aids in facilitating healing.
After 7-10 days, the skin will feel normal again. During the healing phase, it is important to use a nourishing, unscented moisturizing cream. You have the option to purchase IS Clinical Sheald from the clinic, or you can consider another similar unscented cream. This will help the skin heal faster and better, and we recommend using the cream for at least one week after the treatment.
#6 Number of Treatments and Expectations
It is recommended to have 3 treatments with 4-6 weeks between sessions if you desire skin renewal, overall skin improvement, or tissue firming. If you wish to reduce deeper lines, wrinkles, and possible scar tissue, six treatments are usually necessary. Results are typically visible around 3-6 months after the treatment, and they will gradually become more apparent. Additional follow-up treatments 1-2 times a year can be effective.
#7 Side Effects and Risks
With Frax-1550 treatment, there is a slight risk of infection with either bacteria or viruses. Infection is characterized by redness, tenderness, swelling of the skin, and possible fever. If an infection occurs, it will be experienced as a worsening or regression in the healing process. The risk of infection is highest in the first few days after treatment and can be easily treated with antibiotics. If you are prone to recurrent herpes outbreaks on the face, it is recommended to start preventive treatment the day before the procedure.
Temporary acne or acne-like skin may be activated after the treatment in areas where you already have a tendency for acne. In rare cases, burns may occur, resulting in small fluid-filled blisters, sores, light or dark skin discoloration, and scar tissue formation. These burns can occur for various reasons but are typically associated with sun exposure. In most cases, burns are mild and heal without scarring. If burns or unexpected reactions occur, it is advisable to immediately contact the clinic and speak with a doctor or nurse.
#8 Contraindications
The following are reasons why you cannot be approved for the treatment:
- History of skin or melanoma cancer
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Some types of prescription medication for acne
- Known tendency to form keloid scars
- Anticoagulation treatment (blood-thinning treatment)
