Patient information about Cosmo Signatur - Version 1.01

A Cosmo Signature treatment combines a laser and an IPL treatment, each targeting different concerns. These two treatments are performed immediately after each other and complement each other incredibly well. Cosmo Signature is particularly suitable for aging skin with spider veins, diffuse redness, dark spots, and the need for mild tightening, reduction of mild wrinkles, scars, or rough skin texture. The result is a more even skin tone, mild skin tightening, and prevention of sagging skin.

Here is a brief overview of the two treatments and their effects:

Uneven Skin Tone

We first use Ellipse Nordlys IPL for uneven skin tone. During the treatment, optical light is applied to the skin, which heats and reduces small blood vessels and uneven skin tone.

The result will be a more uniform skin tone with renewed radiance.

Rough Skin Texture, Large Pores, and Scars

Finally, we use Frax-1550. With Frax-1550, laser light creates controlled damage in the skin, stimulating the skin to produce new skin cells and connective tissue. During the healing process, the skin contracts more.

The result will be skin renewal with a reduction in fine lines, scars, rough skin, and large pores.

Before the treatment can begin, the patient must undergo an assessment by a dermatologist to detect any skin issues that may be unsuitable for treatment.

A prerequisite for achieving the best result is that the skin is as pale as possible. Therefore, self-tanners should not be used for 2 weeks before the treatment, and the treatment area should not be exposed to UV rays (sunlight and tanning beds) for 4 weeks before the treatment. The treatment area should be intact, without infections, wounds, or irritation. It is also recommended to ensure that the skin is well-maintained before starting the treatment. Well-maintained skin responds better to treatment and can recover more quickly.

Failure to adhere to the above precautions may result in treatment cancellation or postponement. In cases where there is an increased risk of side effects, a fee of DKK 500 may be charged if the appointment is canceled later than 24 hours before the treatment or in case of no-show.

According to cosmetic treatment regulations, the treated area must be photographed before treatment can begin.

The skin is cleansed, and a special gel is applied to protect the skin and optimize the transfer of light energy to the treatment areas. During the treatment, you will feel warmth in the skin, and there will be sharp flashes of light. Your eyes will be protected by special eye pads and will not be affected by the light. In some areas, the treatment may be slightly uncomfortable, but most people describe it as a warm "tingling" sensation in the skin.

In particular, the last laser treatment (Frax-1550) can be associated with discomfort for most people, so there is time allocated for the nurse to apply a local anesthetic cream, which takes about 15 minutes to take effect.

Frax-1550 uses laser light to create microscopic vertical injuries in a selected percentage of the skin. It is a highly controlled treatment, and it feels like small warm needles on the skin. Typically, treatment is evenly distributed throughout the treatment area. However, in some areas, it may be necessary to treat more closely, such as around deep wrinkles or deeper scars.

After the treatment, the skin will feel warm and may be swollen, and there may be discomfort in the treatment area. Cooling of the skin is necessary, so after the treatment, you will receive ice packs to cool the treatment area. You will also receive an extra pack that you can use at home by refreezing it when it thaws. The burning sensation in the skin usually subsides within 4-8 hours, after which the skin may feel tender, warm, and sensitive. The skin tone may often appear darker and more uneven immediately after the treatment. Coffee-ground-like spots may appear but will fade within 1-2 weeks. Small wounds on the skin where Frax-1550 was used will diminish and heal over approximately 4-7 days. To aid in the healing of these wounds, IS Clinical Sheald, a cream for healing irritated and damaged skin, is applied.

With Frax-1550 treatment, there is an increased risk of skin infection. Due to this risk of infection, you should be extremely careful not to touch your skin for 24 hours after the treatment. Make sure to have freshly washed hands before touching the treated area. It is not recommended to cleanse your skin or apply anything other than the recommended products for the first 24 hours after the treatment or until there are wounds on the skin.

During the healing phase, it is important to use a nourishing, fragrance-free moisturizer. You have the option to purchase IS Clinical Sheald from the clinic, or it is recommended to acquire a similar fragrance-free cream. This will help the skin heal faster and better, and we recommend using the cream for at least one week after the treatment.

The number of treatments is assessed individually. Typically, 3 treatments with 6-8 weeks between each session are recommended for optimal results. After completing the treatment course, it is advisable to maintain the treatment 1-2 times a year. 

The duration of the result depends on various factors, including sun exposure, aging, and skin conditions. We find that approximately 10-20% of the treated skin imperfections in skin tone only show minimal improvement or remain unchanged. Unfortunately, if you do not respond optimally to the treatments, we cannot offer refunds.

In rare cases, burns may occur, leading to small blistering, sores, light or dark discoloration of the skin, and scar formation. These burns can occur for various reasons, but typically if the skin has been exposed to the sun.

In most cases, burns are mild and heal without scarring. In extremely rare cases, a worsening of dark skin tone may occur after treatment. If this happens, we will discontinue the treatment.

With Frax-1550 treatment, there is a small risk of infection with either bacteria or viruses. Infection manifests as redness, tenderness, and swelling of the skin, along with possible fever. If an infection occurs, it will be experienced as a sudden worsening or setback in the healing process. The risk of infection is highest in the first few days after treatment and can be easily treated with antibiotics. 

If you suffer from recurrent herpes outbreaks on your face, it is recommended to start preventive treatment the day before.

Temporary acne or skin breakouts may occur after treatment in areas where you already have a tendency for acne. If burns or unexpected reactions occur, it is advisable to contact the clinic immediately and consult with a doctor or nurse.

The following are reasons why you cannot be approved for the treatment:

• History of skin or melanoma cancer
• Pregnancy or breastfeeding
• Some types of prescription medication for acne
• Known tendency to form keloid scars
• Anticoagulation treatment (blood-thinning treatment)
• Untreated epilepsy
• Hemophilia
  

According to cosmetic treatment regulations, you can provide consent for treatment once verbal information has been provided. A companion is always welcome to be present during consultation and treatment.
