#1 In Brief

Expand FAQ

Hydrafacial is a non-invasive facial treatment that cleanses, exfoliates, extracts impurities from the pores, and delivers intensive hydration – all in one single treatment. The pores are deeply cleansed using Hydrafacial’s patented Vortex Fusion technology, which gently yet effectively removes dead skin cells, impurities, and accumulated waste from the skin. The deep cleansing is followed by a gentle chemical peel, which can be adjusted in strength according to individual needs.

Finally, the skin is infused with moisture and active ingredients such as antioxidants, peptides, and hyaluronic acid. The result after a Hydrafacial treatment is an immediate glow and long-term improvement. The clinic also offers various add-on treatments, including LED light therapy, lymphatic drainage, and other customized treatments tailored to your needs.

Hydrafacial can easily be integrated into a treatment course alongside all our other advanced skin-enhancing treatments. By deeply cleansing and intensely hydrating the skin, Hydrafacial creates an optimal foundation, often enhancing both the effectiveness and longevity of subsequent treatments such as SkinPen, IPL, chemical peels, or injectable treatments.

#2 Before Treatment

Expand FAQ

Before your treatment, the skin is cleansed with a mild cleansing gel to remove makeup and surface impurities. We always use Cleansing Complex from IS-Clinical, which is also an excellent supplement to your daily skincare routine for optimal results. Your skin type and current needs are assessed before the nurse selects serums and exfoliation levels.

The treatment area must be intact, without infections or large wounds. If these precautions are not followed, the treatment may be cancelled or postponed. We reserve the right to cancel treatment if we assess an increased risk of side effects.

We also reserve the right to charge a fee of DKK 500 if you are sent home and the appointment must be cancelled later than 24 hours prior to the scheduled treatment. This also applies in cases of no-shows or cancellations later than 24 hours before the appointment.

According to legislation on cosmetic treatments, the treated area must be photographed before treatment can begin.

#3 During Treatment

Expand FAQ

The treatment plan is reviewed, after which the skin is cleansed. The treatment is not painful and is widely known as a pleasant and gentle procedure, often described as a combination of deep cleansing and facial massage. If you have very sensitive skin, rosacea, or active acne, certain steps of the treatment, such as vacuum extraction, may feel slightly tight or uncomfortable.

#4 After Treatment

Expand FAQ

After the treatment, the skin will be more sensitive to UV radiation. Therefore, it is recommended to apply a minimum of SPF 30 daily and avoid direct sunlight for 48 hours after treatment.

Avoid wearing makeup on the same day and allow the skin to “breathe.” Wait at least 12–24 hours before applying makeup, especially foundation and powder.

Avoid exfoliation or active acids, including products containing AHA, BHA, retinol, fruit acids, or strong exfoliating agents, for 2–3 days after treatment.

Avoid sauna, steam baths, intense exercise, and hot baths for 24–48 hours, as heat may irritate the skin and increase redness.

Avoid waxing, laser treatments, or other intensive procedures. Wait at least 5–7 days if you are planning hair removal, microneedling, chemical peels, or similar treatments.

Keep the skin well hydrated and use a mild, nourishing moisturizer morning and evening. Serums containing hyaluronic acid are particularly effective at binding moisture in the skin after treatment.

We recommend Hydra Cool Serum from IS-Clinical, which contains 25% sodium hyaluronate. This concentration makes it one of the more potent serums in terms of hydration and helps optimize your results. Your nurse will advise you on the skincare products best suited to your individual needs.

#5 Number of Treatments and Expectations

Expand FAQ

A single Hydrafacial treatment can provide a visible improvement in skin glow, hydration, and clarity and is ideal as maintenance or before a special event. Results typically last 5–7 days and, in some cases, up to 1–2 weeks.

For the treatment of specific skin concerns such as acne-prone skin, pigmentation, fine lines, or uneven skin texture, a course of 4–6 treatments at intervals of 2–4 weeks is recommended. A treatment course provides more gradual and long-lasting improvements. After completing the course, maintenance treatments every 4–6 weeks may be continued.

You can expect smoother and more even skin texture, improved moisture balance, a fresher glow, temporarily reduced pore visibility, and makeup that applies more smoothly. With repeated treatments, improvements in skin tone and pigmentation, fewer clogged pores, reduction of fine lines, increased elasticity, and overall healthier skin may be achieved over time.

#6 Side Effects

Expand FAQ

Hydrafacial is generally considered a gentle and safe treatment for most skin types; however, side effects may occur, including mild redness, irritation, dryness, peeling, hypersensitivity reactions to serums, temporary breakouts, mild swelling or tenderness, and a risk of herpes outbreaks in individuals prone to cold sores. If unexpected reactions occur, it is recommended to contact the clinic.

#7 Contraindications

Expand FAQ

Hydrafacial is generally a safe treatment; however, there are contraindications where the treatment should be postponed, adjusted, or avoided altogether, depending on the individual situation.

Cases requiring professional assessment prior to treatment:

  • Active acne (especially cystic acne): Vacuum extraction and exfoliation may irritate the skin and spread bacteria.
  • Very sensitive or atopic skin: Increased risk of redness, stinging, or discomfort.
  • Recent chemical peel, laser, or microneedling treatment: A waiting period of 1–2 weeks is recommended, or as assessed by the practitioner.
  • Use of retinol or vitamin A products: These should often be paused 2–5 days prior to treatment to reduce the risk of irritation.
  • Tendency to keloid scarring: Although Hydrafacial is non-invasive, caution is advised in patients with a history of abnormal scar formation.

We do not perform treatment if you have:

  • Active skin infections: Such as herpes simplex (cold sores), bacterial infections, fungal infections, or warts.
  • Open wounds, scabs, or unhealed skin: Increased risk of worsening the condition or causing infection.
  • Severe rosacea or active eczema: The treatment may further irritate the skin.
  • Recent use of isotretinoin (Roaccutane): A minimum waiting period of 6 months after completion of treatment is required, as the skin remains highly sensitive.
  • Allergy to any of the ingredients: For example salicylic acid (commonly used in one of the serums), honey, algae, or other active ingredients.

Pregnancy or breastfeeding (with certain serums): In particular, salicylic acid and certain peptides are not recommended; this depends on clinic policy and product selection.
