PATIENT INFORMATION ABOUT PROFHILO STRUCTURA - VERSION 1.0

Profhilo Structura is non-stabilized, meaning it does not add volume.

It is a biostimulator with a unique composition of hyaluronic acid molecules, containing one of the highest concentrations of hyaluronic acid. This helps restore the facial fat tissue.

The medical rationale behind this product is based on the theory of facial anatomy and aging, where the structure and volume of fat tissue significantly change over time. With age, the face undergoes various transformations, generally resulting in two prominent aging profiles: hollowness or sagging.

During the consultation, the nurse will assess the areas requiring treatment and develop a treatment plan in collaboration with you.

Avoid taking blood-thinning substances such as fish oil, Treo, Ipren, Kodimagnyl, and similar medications for four days before the treatment, as these can increase the risk of bruising and bleeding in the treated area.

The treatment area must be intact, without infections, wounds, or irritation. It is also recommended to ensure the skin is well-maintained before starting the treatment. Well-cared-for skin responds better to treatment and recovers more quickly.

Failure to adhere to these precautions may result in cancellation or rescheduling of the treatment. We cancel in cases where we assess that there is an increased risk of side effects.

Additionally, we reserve the right to charge a fee of DKK 500 if you are sent home, and the appointment is canceled less than 24 hours before the scheduled treatment. This also applies in cases of no-shows or cancellations less than 24 hours in advance.

According to regulations for cosmetic treatments, the treated area must be photographed before the treatment can begin.

The treatment plan will be reviewed, after which the skin is cleansed and disinfected, and the treatment area identified. The treatment involves injecting Profhilo Structura using a longer tube, known as a cannula. For most people, the procedure is not painful, though mild to moderate discomfort may occur during the injection.

Immediately after treatment, Profhilo Structura may appear as small swellings in the treated area. There may also be mild redness and tenderness. In some cases, bruising may begin to appear, which is normal and caused by minor bleeding into the tissue.

After treatment, there is a risk of infection in the treated area. Therefore it is essential to avoid touching the area and refrain from applying makeup or creams for at least 4 hours. Avoid strenuous physical activity for 2–3 days and avoid saunas and tanning beds for at least 2 weeks, as high heat can accelerate the breakdown of the tightening product during the first weeks.

Avoid taking blood-thinning substances such as fish oil, Treo, Ipren, Kodimagnyl, and similar medications for 2 days after treatment, as these can increase the risk of bruising and bleeding at the injection site.

It takes up to 2 weeks for the tightening product to fully integrate into the tissue, after which the cellular improvement process leads to visible tightening in the treated area over the next 6 weeks. Due to cellular processes and cycles, the final results will be visible and noticeable after 4–6 months.

A treatment course with Profhilo Structura requires two treatments with a 4-week interval.

The longevity of Profhilo Structura’s effects is highly individual and depends on factors such as activity level, the product used, and external influences.

It is recommended to maintain results with one treatment every 8–12 months.

Bruising typically fades after 4–6 days. In rare cases, larger hematomas (blood collections) may occur, which generally disappear within 2–4 weeks. During this period, the tissue may feel tender, reddish/bluish, and slightly swollen, with potential unevenness in the tissue.

If you are prone to frequent herpes outbreaks, an injection treatment may trigger an outbreak. Preventive treatment is recommended in such cases.

With Profhilo Structura treatments, there is a small risk of infection caused by bacteria or viruses. Infection presents as redness, tenderness, swelling, or possibly fever. If an infection occurs, it may appear as a sudden worsening or regression in healing. The risk of infection is highest in the first few hours after treatment and can be treated with antibiotics.

Symptoms of infection can resemble common side effects of Profhilo Structura, but if in doubt, please contact the clinic. Outside clinic hours, contact your general practitioner or the emergency department.

Granulomas, necrosis, and ischemia with a risk of blindness may also occur with Profhilo Structura treatment. However, it must be strongly emphasized that such cases are exceedingly rare, with only a few instances recorded worldwide.

These conditions require medical treatment. If you experience unevenness, symptoms of infection, or any other unexpected skin reactions, please contact the clinic immediately to speak with a doctor or nurse.

The following are reasons why you cannot be approved for the treatment:

• Pregnancy or breastfeeding
• Anticoagulation treatment (blood-thinning treatment)
• Hemophilia (bleeding disorder)
• Active herpes outbreak on the treatment day in the treatment area
• Silicone implants and/or thread lift in the treatment area
  

In accordance with cosmetic treatment regulations, a 48-hour reflection period is mandated before consent for treatment can be given after receiving verbal information.
